Coastal Television (flexible start date, one position available)

Located at Coastal Television in Cape Coast

People with a strong interest in media and journalism who are looking for a unique experience at a local TV station in Ghana are encouraged to apply. This internship can last up to one year, but requires at least a one-month commitment. Coastal Television is the first community television station in Ghana. It is “free to air” and easily accessible to communities in Cape Coast as well as communities within the 20 kms radius of Cape Coast. Through the use of music, docu-dramas, folklore, and a host of interactive programmes, Coastal Television serves as an important social mirror. You will have the option of being a part of the morning crew, the evening crew or even both if you so desire. The morning crew’s work involves filming and investigating stories in the field, script development, and programme development. The evening crew handles the editing and broadcasting of the television programmes well as the live evening shows in the studio.

Interns working at Coastal TV are required to bring their own laptop with editing qualities as well as a video camera, as the organisation doesn’t have the means to provide extra equipment.

This internship is a valuable opportunity for individuals to teach as well as learn. Most of the staff at the station are self-taught and have had no formal broadcasting or journalism education or training. Any expertise you have to offer in these fields is highly appreciated, and interns will be called upon to share their knowledge.
